Backstage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend
If you are guaranteed one thing when you study a degree with Backstage Academy, it’s that you will get access to some amazing work experience opportunities.
From placements at Ibiza Rocks to Glastonbury and every festival in between, here is an insight into what life backstage was like for our 20 students that worked at Radio 1s Big Weekend in Norwich.
The Backstage Academy students weren’t just here to make up the numbers; they were an integral part of the crew that helped to put an amazing weekend enjoyed by over 50,000 thousand people
Covering a range of duties from helping to build the main stage, stage managing in the New Music We Trust tent, working with production companies such as Dick Tee, PRG, and Britannia Row through to working alongside artists such as Rudimental and Snoop Dogg.
We won’t lie to you, the weekend wasn’t a walk in the park, it was real hard work and required the students to work long hours and put in a real shift! But then that’s what life is like in the industry and with the hard work comes the rewards as the experience and has led to several other paid work experience opportunities overt the summer for many students because their skills and talent was witnessed first-hand by some of the top production managers in the industry.
