Backstage Academy Founder Adrian Brooks was awarded Doctor of Business Administration at the University of Bolton’s Degree Congregation Ceremonies
Backstage Academy Founder Adrian Brooks was awarded Doctor of Business Administration at the University of Bolton’s Degree Congregation Ceremonies on Tuesday 2 July 2014, for outstanding contribution to Business and Entertainment. Adrian Brooks is from New Mills, Derbyshire and originally trained as a teacher in Manchester but found that while he loved kids he hated teaching – so he quit. In the spring of 1983 one conversation led to the birth of an industry standard. Whilst working in the business of aluminium scaffold towers he was asked to provide a triangular truss that could sit on and span between two towers. The initial concept of AstraLite was born; the world’s first lightweight aluminium trussing system, a high-performance, modular concept that remains in worldwide daily use.
Adrian has been behind a stream of innovations across the entertainment industry. In 2005, Adrian opened a studio facility with Coldplay as its first client. LS-Live is a full facility rehearsal arena, the largest facility of its kind in Europe, servicing clients including Jay Z, Robbie Williams and ITV.
Adrian founded Backstage Academy, an education facility dedicated to the behind-the-scenes support to the entertainment industry, which is a University of Bolton education partner.
