Backstage Academy Graduation 2017

A great day!

On Friday 22nd September, we had an incredible send-off for our leavers at the 2017 Graduation Ceremony.

This was no ordinary graduation… the setting was LS-Live Studio 001 on Production Park and was the first ceremony to be produced entirely by our students.

The whole event was thoroughly entertaining and featured some very impressive lighting displays, video and special effects throughout.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bolton, Prof George Holmes, said: “This is a unique and special place in terms of bringing people to job readiness and future creative opportunities that are probably unmatched anywhere else in the world.”

We were lucky enough to secure Chris Vaughan as our Guest of Honour, who has production managed around 250 tours and major events across the world. Chris has worked with Take That, The Spice Girls, Biffy Clyro and Muse – and was the production director for the London 2012 Olympics Closing ceremony.

Speaking to the students, he said: “Now that you have graduated, I want to be the first to welcome you into our family of the respectably odd, and dysfunctional yet splendid individuals, otherwise known as roadies.”

Congratulations to all those involved in pulling together the 2017 Graduation Ceremony but most importantly a massive congratulations to our most recent graduates – The Class of 2017!
