Major Project Showcase - Mental Health Matters

Hosted in Studio 002 on campus at Production Park, this group of final-year students chose to focus their Major Project on raising awareness of mental health, and the challenges faced by individuals who have struggled with poor mental health.

Using their technical knowledge and skills in lighting, sound and visual content creation, the students created a theatrical piece depicting the inner thoughts of someone dealing with their mental health.

Battles of negative emotions and spiralling thoughts were creatively depicted through changes in the lights and their interaction with the movements of contemporary dancers in the space.

The use of sound was incredibly powerful, where soundscapes of voices that overlapped with each other made the emotional charge of the piece even stronger.

A powerful theatrical piece, that visually explored emotions, mood and feelings, closed with poignant remarks from the student team who thanked family, friends and those who have shown support to others in times of need.
