Students at work in November 2017

Busy, Busy, Busy!

It’s been a busy weekend for Backstage Academy.

We had students working at BBC Radio 1Xtra Live at Manchester Arena, the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards at The SSE Arena, Wembley and The Macnas Parade in Hull.

On Saturday, over 20 Backstage Academy students had the opportunity to work at ‘The Land of Green Ginger’ street parade as part of the Hull UK City of Culture 2017 Arts Festival.

Infront of a 30,000 crowd, our students operated smoke/fog, flares and flame throwers, as well as working in stage management, lighting and sound roles.

Produced by Irish arts company Macnas, it included large puppets of giants, woodland creatures and mythical beasts. A great experience for all involved!
